National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a fire incident that destroyed a three bedroom house at Dakuinuku village in Tailevu early this morning.
At 04.06 am, the Korovou Fire Station was alerted of the fire and the fire crew responded immediately.
Upon arrival at the scene, the fire team saw a wooden and corrugated iron house fully engulfed in flames.The fire team quickly used one delivery of water from the fire truck to extinguish the fire.
It is believed the family of four was asleep when the fire started. The owner of the house woke up and raised the alarm to his wife and two children and they all managed to escape to safety.
In another fire incident, a family of four lost their house in a fire along Nasau Road in Sigatoka.
At 11.17am, the Sigatoka Fire Station was alerted of the fire and the fire team responded immediately.
Upon arrival, the fire crew saw a wooden and corrugated iron house fully engulfed in flames. The team quickly used one delivery of water from the fire truck to extinguish the fire.
The occupants of the house were in a nearby farm when the fire had started.
No injuries were reported in both fire incidents.
NFA once again reminds home owners to strictly adhere to fire safety precautions in and around their homes. Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility and we urge all members of the public to take heed and ensure that your properties are fire-safe.
The NFA is also requesting the public to call on 910 as soon as there is a fire so that the fire team can respond on time.
Fire investigations are underway to determine the causes of both fire incidents.
